Taste of College Park

Big thanks to Taste of College Park for a great evening last night. Ashley’s a College Park smarty and correctly guessed the number of college-themed street names as part of a fun Facebook contest and won two tickets to the event (WooHoo!)

The event was super fun … there were so many yummy food and drink vendors.  We enjoyed wine from The Naked Grape (loved the Moscato!), a frozen John Daly from The Margarita Man, a Tap Room Slider from The Tap Room, BBQ from Wildside and delicious desserts from The Yum Yum Cupcake Truck and Cookie Cousins.

It was fun to see friends, listen to the music and just relax with the backdrop of College Park’s Historic Dubsdread Golf Course behind us.  Can’t wait until next year!

We went here recently because they were having Pliny The Younger tasting on tap. Now for those of you who are beer drinkers you know that Pliny The Younger is nearly impossible to get because of the limited release each year. Our friends got wind that The Tap Room was doing their tasting and we drove an hour to get this rare gem. They have a great beer selection and their beer menu gives you in depth info and background about their beers. They have a ton on tap and others that are bottled. My review is going to be base on their food! Yes this place has great food. We had a taste of their beer batter onion rings, burgers and pizza.I had their Cobb Burger. It had avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, bacon, crumble blue cheese and 1/2lb patty that is meaty and juicy. This burger was awesome! I had them put the blue cheese on the side and this monster did not disappoint. The burger was cooked medium and was just fantastic. We also had their pizza, their dough has a hint of sweetness and the texture is just wonderful. The crust is just the right amount of chewiness. Toppings seem to be very fresh and in abundance. We also had garlic fries which I have to warn you is not the usual way someone who love garlic would like it. It’s a tad too greasy but is still yummy. I love their onion rings. If I had to pick between the two I would pick the onion rings. Their batter don’t break apart when you bite into it. I hate it when I bite into an onion ring and the whole tiny onion inside comes out leaving me a greasy empty shell…well not these awesome onion rings. Oh by the way if you guys were wondering how the Pliny The Younger tasted….Well from what I hear it was the same as Pliny The Elder but finishes off a lot smoother. Something about the beginning taste was about the same but the finish was different. Why would I come back? For the onion rings and Cobb Burgers hands down!
