Last night I had the opportunity* to pay a visit to the 8th Annual Orlando Cabaret Festival. Specifically, I saw KT Sullivan, “Cabaret’s Crown Princess.” In about an hour-long presentation, she payed musical tribute to legendary team Dietz & Schwartz.
Now, I enjoy the theatre and musicals, too. Cabaret I’ve always been a little “iffy” about, but I throughly enjoyed not only the show, but Ms. Sullivan’s showmanship! She sang many entertaining songs–alot of them really cheeky–and had stories to back-up the origins of the songs. One of my favorites was called “The Confession”. With lyrics like:
“I always go to bed at 10…but I don’t go home ’til 4”
…how can you resist?”
Unfortunately KT Sullivan is playing her last show of the festival today; however, there are many great performers scheduled at different times over the next couple of weeks. For those working in the downtown Orlando area, the Festival even offers lunchtime performances, with the option to purchase prepackaged lunches.
The Festival is currently running through May 16th. If you would like to find out more about the Orlando Cabaret Festival click here. You can also catch-up with Orlando Cabaret Festival on Facebook and Mad Cow Theater on Twitter.
