The Orlando Eye is Nearly Complete

It’s getting closer and closer. And we’re getting more and more excited! It’s been fun to watch the progress of the development of the Orlando Eye over the past year, and while the exact “opening date” hasn’t been announced yet, the completion of the passenger capsules on the wheel can only mean that time is near.

Check out this fun video posted by Visit Orlando:

What are your thoughts on this new Central Florida attraction?

Skeletons: Animals Unveiled! Invades Orlando

Make no bones about it – the additions to the I-Drive 360 entertainment complex just keep growing and growing! One which was just recently announced that caught our eye is Skeletons: Animals Unveiled!, and it’s pretty much what you would imagine it would be.

“Skeletons will exhibit over 400 skeletons in clever never-before-seen poses and dioramas and brand visitors with a whole new respect for the animal kingdom.”

Are they all real? Apparently so. Each of these species will be represented in a way that’s natural to their environment and habitat. So chances are you’ll run into this guy:

I mean, what do you think? Based on this limited insight about this new exhibit, will you visit?

The Skeletons: Animals Unveiled! attraction is currently scheduled to open next month (March).

Orlando Eye on I-Drive

By now you’ve probably read, heard, or seen something about the “Orlando Eye.” It’s a massive ferris wheel installment going in on I-Drive, part of a million dollar entertainment project being developed for the heavy-tourist traffic area. Once completed, the Eye will be one of the tallest buildings in the Central Florida area (I bet it’ll look really cool for those flying into and out of the area).

We were recently in the area and caught a quick pic of the current status of the Orlando Eye project progress:

Orlando Eye I

Orlando Eye

It’s a tad tough to tell the size of this structure because there’s no context in this photo, but it’s going to be HUGE!

Here are a few fellow Central Floridians chatting about this, too:

The Orlando Eye is slated to start operation for guests sometime in 2015 (unless someone’s heard differently). We’ll be keeping an eye out for you!

While it won’t be quite as tall, do we think our Orlando Eye will reach the global iconic status of the London Eye?

Orlando’s Most Anticipated Venues for Meetings and Events in 2014

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled on an article by BizBash siting the “10 most anticipated meetings and event spaces in Central Florida” this coming year. Some of these are a bit of a stretch (in my mind) for hosting meetings or events, but hey – we’ll go with it.

You can check-out the link above for the complete description of these venues, but we’re curious to know what you’re most excited about–regardless of the reason–this coming year in 2014.

Dinosaur World Offers Florida Resident Discount

Florida + Dinosaurs

Dinosaur World has been a landmark of the Central Florida area for just about the same amount of time as I have: since 1998. Yet in all that time I’ve never been to experience the park. I get it, and while the folks at Dinosaur World may not like it I think there’s a “cheesy” association with this theme park.

But that’s exactly why residents should pay a visit to find out for themselves, with a discounted rate currently being offered now through the first part of September.

“Central Florida’s only attraction dedicated to the giants of years past
offers guests a colossal discount!”

Dinosaur World Offers Florida Resident Special

Watch out behind you, girls!

In celebration of their upcoming 15th Anniversary, Dinosaur World is slashing its admission prices for Florida Residents. The Florida Resident promotion is $10.95 per adult and children, with children under the age of three (3) receiving free admission.

Complete details on the discounts, hours of operation, location, and more can be found at DinosaurWorld.com. You can also Follow them on Twitter (even though their Tweets are inconsistent) and on Facebook for inside deets.

Have you ever experienced Dinosaur World? We’d love to hear about it.

Dolly Parton Gets Demolished

OK, well obviously Dolly Parton is not getting demolished, but over the weekend we noticed the long-vacant Dixie Stampede out in the Lake Buena Vista area sure is. Actually, the venue looks like it was blown up!

Anyone have any insight/info?

Gatorland and Screamin’ Gator Zip Line

So the Gatorland experience is another one of those Central Florida “landmarks” that’s been around for years-and-years, yet I’ve never taken the time to visit. That all changed last weekend, when Kim and I headed over to check-out not only the park, but the Screamin’ Gator Zip Line as well! (A little insight: paying for the Zip Line gives full admission to the Gatorland park.)

The Park

Walking up to the admissions area guests are faced with this iconic image:

GatorlandSure, I’d seen that before. No biggie. I was not at all prepared, however, for what I was about to see once I walked through the front gates:

GatorlandGatorlandGatorland

GatorlandI mean, can you even get over the massive amount of gators? They’re everywhere. Small ones. Big ones. Gigantic ones! Out. Of. Control!

Gatorland

The Zip Line

So after being in much awe of these animals living basically in our backyard, we headed over to get suited-up and safety training for the Zip Line. We really, really wanted to take some photos and video while on the one-hour plus excursion, but for obvious reasons we couldn’t take our cameras. Here’s a look at what you can expect:

And here’s your Pulse team all suited-up and ready to go! Hawt, right? We’re strongly thinking about making this our everyday wardrobe.

You can get a whole lotta more info on the Gatorland Screamin’ Gator Zip Line.

GatorlandGatorland

I have to say we truly had a blast finally seeing what this Central Florida treasure is all about. We highly recommend if you’re looking for something a little different to do one of these upcoming weekends.

In the interest of full disclosure, Gatorland was kind enough to provide us with complimentary experiences of the Screamin’ Gator Zip Line.

New Orlando Theme Park Not Happening

You might recall us mentioning last December, plans to bring a new theme park development to Central Florida in 2013. Just today, the city’s planning board rejected the developer’s plans. This means–as of right now–the thrill park in mention won’t be happening.

CFNews13.com sites support of the park was lacking since early on, primarily from local residents/residential neighborhoods claiming the noise and traffic would be too obtrusive.

We’ll be sure to keep our ears to the ground in the event of any changes to the situation.

Orlando Thrill Park to Debut in 2013

I recently caught a story on OrlandoSentinel.com announcing a new theme park to debut in Central Florida in 2013. Perhaps this story is not news and I’m just getting around to catching-up? Anyway….

Said theme park is supposedly going to fill a void in the “Six Flags” park area, since the nearest one to our area is in Georgia. It will, of course, be located in the International Drive area, near to Universal Orlando Resort. Attractions will be something like this:

In my opinion, this park will be great for our local economy. It will, obviously, create some jobs (in a market with a huge unemployment rate), and will offer-up some new-and-exciting things for us Central Floridians to do!

What are your thoughts?
