Varsity Veterinary Clinic Open House

About six months ago I shared with you all about my personal vet clinic, located in College Park. This coming Saturday (12/3) from 10am-2pm (the clinic isn’t normally open on the weekends) is holding an open house to the community, so if you’re interested I’d recommend checking it out.

At the open house attendees will have the opportunity to meet with the primary doctor, have a chance to win raffle prizes, among other things. Here are some additional deets:

If you end up going to the open house this weekend, or have been taking one (or more) of your pets here, I’d love to get your thoughts on the place. Share them here in the comments section of this post.

I have a cat. I think he may’ve made an appearance a time or two here on the blog. Admittedly, it’s been many, many years since I’ve taken him to the doctor; he’s an indoor cat – don’t judge. Recently, though, I thought it time for him to get a check-up, and I decided to visit the newly opened Varsity Veterinary Centerupon the recommendation of a good friend (who’s in the vet field).

Quality Pet Food and Products

I was extremely impressed by the level of care and concern each staff member provided my pet. And Dr. Olsen seemed very competent about some issues my cat may be having.

So if you have a pet and are looking for a new doctor for him/her, I highly recommend Varsity Veterinary Center! Great neighborhood business.

Pet Smart’s National Adoption Weekend

I’m a big fan of PetSmart. I started shopping with them exclusively some time ago, after I just got fed-up with several things with their competitor. So when I was in the store last week picking-up a few items for my pet, I saw this:

PetSmart's National Adoption Weekend

Not really a Central Florida specific event, but one where we can help out! So if you’re in the market for a new pet, know someone who is, or if you simply have a HUGE heart, won’t you help spread the word on PetSmart’s National Adoption Weekend? The three-day adoption event is February 11th – 13th (Friday through Sunday), in all PetSmart stores located in the United States and Canada.

More information can be found at your local PetSmart store. You can also get insight and information about the company by Following them on Twitter.

P.S. If you do end-up adopting a pet as a result of this event, won’t you share some photos of your new friend? We’d love to post them here on the site!

SPCA’s ”Bully Beach Bash and Backyard BBQ”

Earlier this morning I caught a Tweet from the SPCA of Central Florida, and just had to shed some light on this great upcoming event:

Now, I have a cat and I’m quite certain he wouldn’t be agreeable to dragging him along to this event, but if you’re a pitbull owner you might want to consider this as a great way to connect with other pitbull owners. Please note: It is requested that you RSVP if you plan on attending.

If you end-up going please take photos of the event and feel free to share them with us. We’d love to feature them here on the blog.

Pet Pulse: Cricket Bright

Remember one of our starts from last month, Lucas Bright? Well, this is Cricket and she’s Lucas’s sister.

Cricket showed up at her mother’s back door a week ago and has taken over. She is extremely energetic and you never know if she’s going to attack you or love on you. She has a big crush on Lucas and follows him everywhere he goes, stalking him and jumping on his head. He’s tolerating it well. So far, she has knocked over the garbage can, a table lamp, 2 plants and several beverages.

Pet Pulse: Fiona

This is Fiona. She’s a two-and-a-half year old Dashund. She loves going to work everyday with her mommy, because she get to bark at customers, sleep on her own chair in her office, and eat my favourite cereal every morning! The best part of her day is when the mailman comes in (one of her favorite people).

When she’s am not at work, Fiona enjoys sleeping in her mommy’s bed, go swimming with her daddy when it’s really hot outside, and going for walks–preferably without a leash–so she can chase the squirrels, or anything else that moves! She obviously loves her life; she’s really spoiled, and everyone loves her!

I mean, really…how can you not love a dog named Princess Fiona?

If you have a Central Florida pet you’d like us to feature, send a bio and photo(s) to pulseofcentralflorida[at]mail[dot]com. They just might be a star….

Mowguli Bohannon

Remember “Tink” from last week? Well, Mowguli is Tink’s twin sibling, of course with the same story. Mowguli enjoys watching Tink make an idiot of herself (don’t all siblings?) with toys and hunting through the window, playing coy while trying to get some loving, jungle beats, and moths that get in the house.

Much more shy than Tink, Mowguli spends most days basking in the sun on the bed and looking mighty cute. Mowguli has as well had his brush with death when in 2002 he was taken to the vet by his grandmother who was kind enough to house them when she noticed he wasn’t feeling well, and it turned out he had a telecoped intestine which was blocking his bowel movement. Yuck! Sadly there wasn’t much the vet said you could do for it and it would probably be fatal. Boy was the vet wrong….

Mowguli has made an full recovery and is expected to live a full and happy life, and is quickly gaining on Tink for fatness!

Pet Pulse: Tinkerbell “Tink” Bohannon

This is Tinkerbell (aka “Tink). She is about 7-years-old and enjoys playing with fake mice (whew!) and hunting squirrles, birds, and lizards thru our front picture window. Of course, like any other kitten, she loves to EAT! She has a twin sibling named Mowgli, and has survived a brush with death when she had quite a scarry seisure at the hands of a favorite toy. Her and her brother were adopted by their mother and her college roommate, and brought to Tampa for a bit.

Tink lives a very fat, happy life in Winter Park. Don’t worry though — she has not gotten all snooty about it, staying true to her simple upbringing.

Pet Pulse: Lucas Bright

Here you see the handsomest boy in the world. Although, born under a trailer in the backwoods of Ohio, Lucas grew up to graduate first in his class from the Handsome Boys Modeling School. Now he spends his days inspiring others to find their inner beauty and allowing his Mama to scrape out crud from the corners of his eyes. Because, as you know, handsome boys don’t have eye boogers.

Where are all the pets?

No “Pet Pulse” feature today. (Sad face.) We’re in need of future pet features, so your mission is to find us some Central Florida pets! Tell your friends, family, co-workers and neighbors about our fantastic little blog, and the possibility of their pet being a star!

In case you’ve forgotten, we need a bio and a photo–or video–of each pet. Just send them to our attention at pulseofcentralflorida[at]mail[dot]com, and we’ll post them here every Wednesday!

Now…GO!

Previous features include:

- Cisco Fox
- Cirrus Heberle
- Bonzo Lamberson-Murphy
- Chachi D. Mang
- Murphy Brooks
- Cassidie Marie Bamford
- and more
