Cut Copy Rocks Firestone Live in Downtown Orlando

You might recall an earlier post siting a groovy band called Cut Copy paying a little visit to our Firestone Live. Well this past Saturday night was the night, and the band did not disappoint.

A nearly packed-out crowd, Firestone is the perfect venue for a band like Cut Copy: not too big, not too small. As usual, we managed to snap some photos and even some video (not the best, and you can hear myself and a friend gabbing away if you watch one of the clips on our YouTube Channel). But we hope you enjoy.

If you ever have the opportunity to catch Cut Copy perform live, I strongly encourage you to do so.

Cut Copy to Play at Firestone Live

A friend of mine turned me on to Cut Copy over a year ago, and I suppose you could say it was love at first listen (which, if you know me, is a big deal because I’m typically drawn to female vocals; the “Music” section here on the blog will attest to that). So yesterday when I received an e-mail announcing an upcoming appearance by Cut Copy at Firestone Live– presumably to promote their new album “Zonoscope” (not an affiliate link)–I was very excited.

Not familiar with Cut Copy? Well, as I initially told my friend who introduced me to the band, I describe them as the lovechild(ren) of New Order and Elkland (R.I.P.). Here’s one of my favorite tracks:

Tickets to Cut Copy’s October 1st show at Firestone go on sale this coming Friday (July 8th). More info can be found here. I’ll be there, for sure, so if you plan on going be on the lookout for me!

Robyn at Firestone Live

After what seemed like an incredibly long break between openers and her first song, Robyn finally hit the stage at Firestone Live last night. She rocked-it-out, and here are some videos we took (sorry they aren’t really long – we were too busy dancing!):

If you ever have the opportunity to see Robyn perform live, I strongly recommend it!

Paul Oakenfold Returns to Orlando

You already know I’m a fan of Paul Oakenfold. He visited Central Florida earlier this year and I posted about it. So I got a little giddy when I found this sitting in my e-mail:

The “Face Lift” Tour will make an appearance at Firestone Live on Thursday, November 11th. The show dares to “change the face of electronic music”. We’ll see about that, but if anyone can do it Oakenfold would surely be one of the few who can.

Tickets, which start at $20 in advance, can be purchased here.

Firestone Live Welcomes Robyn

Firestone Live is severely stepping-up its game in the Central Florida concert space. It’s brought some interesting live artists over the past couple of years, and this November welcomes European sensation Robyn.

While she’s never been terribly huge in the US market, Robyn is a superstar in other parts of the world. She just released a new album, “Body Talk Pt 2,” which must be why she’ll be touring in North America. Here’s a little sneak into her sound:

What do you think?

Additional information on the show is at FirestoneLive.net, and tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster.

Crystal Castles Brings Their Magic to Orlando

I’ve only recently discovered Crystal Castles, and I have to pay a huge thank you to The Daily City for playing a big part. I’ve actually been seeing posters promoting Crystal Castles’ upcoming appearance at Firestone Livw, and meaning to check them out. So glad I did because these kids rock! They are wonderfully eerie:

I’ve seen a few of their performances online and Crystal Castles definitely looks like a band that gives a fantastic live performance. If you’re interested in seeing what they’re all about you can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster. More info on the band can be found at their website.
