WESH 2 Meetup

Early, early, early Friday morning Kim, myself, and a select group of Central Florida social media practitioners met at the WESH 2 studios in Maitland for a behind-the-scenes look at the facility and the business.

The morning began with a treat thanks to The Daily City: waffles (via @ Melissa’s Chicken & Waffles)! Much needed at 6:15am, for sure! Then after everyone licked their fingers in delight, we all checked in and got the download about WESH 2 by way of Digital Manager @gabetrav and Team.

One of highlights of the morning, for sure, was getting an opportunity to watch a live broadcast of the news. Fascinating! Thanks to the Wesh 2 Crew for being so curtious:

Thanks, WESH, for this great experience! It’s much appreciated.

Upcoming Yelp Orlando Tweetup

It’s about that time for another Community Manager Yelp Orlando Tweetup. This one’s taking place next Thursday evening (1/26) from 6-8pm at The Falcon in downtown Orlando’s Thornton Park neighborhood.

Here’s your chance to kick off the New Year by meeting other folks in Central Florida who love the interwebs like you! And here’s my favorite part: “Fish Out of Water Sushi Truck will be on site for yum yums and Happy Hour is from 6-8pm and it’s $1 off all beer, wine, cider, & saki!” How can you pass that up as an early start to your weekend?

Here are the location deets:

819 E Washington St
Orlando, FL 32801

More information and to RSVP for the Tweetup can be found here. See you there?

WESH 2 Morning Tweetup on 1/20

We’re super-excited to have been invited to next Friday’s Morning Tweetup at the WESH 2 studios. Anyone can apply but space is extremely limited. Not sure what the qualifications are to participate but you can find details here, as well as by visiting the WESH.com site.

We will, of course, follow-up with a detailed post*–including photos–after our visit next Friday!

I Do Downtown Orlando Bridal Crawl

I picture in my head an overwhelming amount of women dressed-up in silk & lace bridal gowns, pulling one another’s hair to get in to their ideal wedding venue. Somehow I don’t think that’s really the way this event goes down. Sigh….

The point of this event is to provide brides-to-be a look at some of the venues that are opportune places to have a wedding. One of the things I really appreciate about something like this is the potential to feed the local economy. This year’s “I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl” is this Sunday, January 8th, from 11am-4pm. Advanced registration and tickets are $10. But if you wanna buddy-up with a pal you can register $15 for two!

Here’s a list of venues participating in this event:

  • Orange County Regional History Center
  • Ballroom at Church Street
  • Ceviche Tapas Bar and Restaurant
  • Citrus Club
  • Embassy Suites Hotel
  • Grand Bohemian Hotel
  • University Club
  • 310 Lakeside

For more information and to register, visit the History Center’s website.

Are you a married woman who’s taken part of this event? We’d love to hear about your experience!

2011 Fresh From Florida Parade

Updated 12/30: Please note that it does not cost $23 to attend this event. The $23 is for reserved seating in bleachers. It is free to watch the parade from anywhere else along the parade route. Thanks to one of our readers for pointing this out.

Everybody loves a parade, right?!

If you’ve resided in Central Florida for any decent amount of time you’re likely familiar with the annual parade that takes place in downtown Orlando. Ringing in each new year, the Fresh From Florida Parade is a huge draw for residents, visitors, and even celebrities.

This year’s parade will start at 11am this coming Saturday, December 31st. If you’re interested in attending, tickets are $23. Tickets can be purchased here, and you can also find information on the parade route and lineup.

Here’s a little bit of what you can expect from the parade:

Have you even been downtown to watch this parade?

Orlando Food Truck Bazaar: Fashion Square

Last night we braved the cold air and took a little trip over to this month’s Orlando Food Truck Bazaar. Located just behind Fashion Square Mall, we found this event much more favorable an experience than the last we attended (this one was way less crowded, and the more compact layout of the trucks was convenient).

Thanks to The Daily City for all the repeat yumminess! Looking forward to more in the future. More, more, more!

Have you been out to experience the Orlando Food Truck Bazaar at one of the many locations around Central Florida? What are your thoughts?

Season’s 52 Park Avenue 5.2k

I won’t necessarily say I’m the most fit person on the planet – I go through phases as I’m sure many folks do – but I plan on making 2012 one of the fittest years of my life! Gonna make it happen!

What better way to kick it off by participating in this Season’s 52 Park Avenue 5.2k presented by Florida Hospital? Seems like a good start, right? (I think I might’ve even talked Kim into doing it with me….) And what’s even more special about this particular race is proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida and the Track Shack Foundation. Getting fit and healthy for a good cause sounds like the perfect combination to me!

Here are deets on time, date, and location:

Saturday, January 21, 2012
7:30 am: 5.2k (3.2 miles)
8:45 am: Healthy 100 Kids’ Run
9:00 am: Awards Presentation

Full details about the event and registration can be found on Track Shack’s website.

See you there?

Holiday Flavor: Joy To The World

If you’re looking for a little something to do to help you get in the Christmas spirit, why not consider this, playing tomorrow (12/15) and Friday (12/16):

Head of the Giblet Regatta 2011

She would probably never post about this herself, so I’ll do it on her behalf! As you all know “Pulse” co-Founder and my PIC (Partner In Crime) Kim Taylor is an avid rower. Yesterday I got to see her in action for the first time when she and her crew team rowed in the Head of the Giblet Regatta at beautiful Bill Frederick Park Turkey Lake.

Here is some video I shot accompanied by a couple of photos (yes, that is a turkey leg you see). Enjoy!

And in the news of “man it’s a small world,” “Pulse” Friend and Follower Matt Sokoloff was in Kim’s boat. They’re rowing mates!

Ever thought about rowing yourself? Have you ever been to a Regatta? Or a Regatta Gala, perhaps?

Fall Fiesta in the Park

Fall Fiesta in the Park
It’s about that time of year again, for some great Fall events throughout Central Florida. One of my favorites, you might recall, is Fiesta in the Park at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. It’s a great event for the community, filled with arts, crafts, unique items and delicious food! It’s particularly enjoyable when the Fall weather we love here in Central Florida is in true form.

This year’s event will take place next weekend:

– Saturday, November 5th
– Sunday, November 6th

Keep in mind parking can often be a challenge in the downtown area during events like this. There are several public garages in the nearby area, though, that can be utilized for about $5-$7.

More information can be found on the event website. You can also Like them on Facebook.
