We all know I love my electronica. And I’m actually quite intrigued by the upcoming Electric Daisy Carnival festival (hitting Central Florida later this month). Many great dance musicians/DJs will be making an appearance over the course of two days: Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten and more!

I *may* have to skip-out on this particular event – it’s a bit out of my budget right now and I find I’m getting less and less tolerant of large crowds the older I get. I’m also not the biggest fan of Tinker Field, although I know that’s horrible to say. I may, however, just grow a wild hair and you could see me there dancin’ my little rear off. Who knows?!?!

My good buddy Colleen and I headed over to Roxy Nightclub late last week to check out Above & Beyond, which you know is one of my favorite electronica acts. I opted not to take my camera in because you never call tell what the policies are going to be for local venues, so armed with my phone alone I snapped a couple of pics so sorry the quality’s not any better (only 1/2 of A&B was actually there, by the way):

Roxy Nightclub Entrance

It was an awesome show with some great tunes! My only beef is that the place got really, really crowded as the night went on. But hey…what’re you gonna do?!

Anyone who remotely knows me knows I’m a huge electronica fan. I love dance music–good dance music–and have often been known to shake my booty when listening to it (this is usually a free service). So I was giddy as a pig in mud when I found out last week that one of my favorite groups, Above & Beyond, are bringing their live act to Central Florida.

Above & Beyond are original composers as well as critically acclaimed remixers, and their work is well-respected in the industry. Their latest collection of original work (non-remixed) is called “Group Therapy” and is just about to be released. The first single is called “Sun & Moon” and I love it:

Now, here’s the…entertaining part of the story (at least in my opinion): The show is coming to Roxy Nightclub. I haven’t been to The Roxy in over 10 years, and couldn’t begin to tell you what sort of crowd hangs out there these days. I guess I’ll find out when I head over there next Thursday evening (4/28) for the event.
