Barktoberfest at Lake Eola

We’ve never been to a Barktoberfest before, but here at Pulse we’re all about the animals (you’ve met Peanut and Bean, right?) so we’re happy to both promote and hopefully attend the upcoming event at Downtown Orlando’s Lake Eola.

Here’s how DowntownOrlando.com describes this event:

Barktoberfest, a rescue appreciation event, will take place on Saturday, October 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the NorthEast side of Lake Eola. The German themed event will feature authentic cuisine, drinks, bounce houses/games for children, a photo booth and raffles.

The goal of this event is to help homeless pets find their forever homes!”

Have you been to a Barktoberfest in years past? What can attendees expect?

SPCA’s ”Bully Beach Bash and Backyard BBQ”

Earlier this morning I caught a Tweet from the SPCA of Central Florida, and just had to shed some light on this great upcoming event:

Now, I have a cat and I’m quite certain he wouldn’t be agreeable to dragging him along to this event, but if you’re a pitbull owner you might want to consider this as a great way to connect with other pitbull owners. Please note: It is requested that you RSVP if you plan on attending.

If you end-up going please take photos of the event and feel free to share them with us. We’d love to feature them here on the blog.

It’s wild in Winter Park!

Just when you think living in Central Florida is boring and nearly everything’s predictable, along comes a little surprise to renew your interest. Recently while at a residence located in the Winter Park area, I discovered a family–or perhaps just a gang of friends–of owls living in a Birds of Paradise plant. Yes…I said owls! They’re definitely in a well-hidden place, but look closely and you can see them:

In doing a little research about this encounter at TheOwlPages.com, I believe the owls I saw are the Eastern Screech Owl, although according to the information on the site these creatures are primarily nocturnal.

If you’ve seen wild animals lurking around the Central Florida area we’d love to hear your story or see your photos. E-mail them to us by clicking here. You’re also welcome to leave a comment in this post.
