Relive the 80s Saturday night with an Art Show at Redlight Redlight!

The show starts at 8 p.m. and will feature 80s-inspired art, all for sale during a silent auction.

Along with some of the best draft beer (they have 23 drafts to choose from!) in Orlando, you can also enjoy music by Red Soda starting at 9.

Downtown Food & Wine Fest: March 31-April 1

Food + Wine + Music + Orlando = Weekend fun!

Next weekend, more than 40 Orlando-area restaurants will gather at Lake Eola for the Downtown Food & Wine Fest.  You can pair your eats from places like Dexter’s, Ember, Taverna Opa, The Meat House (and more!) with wine from Arroba, Beringer, Sebastiani (and more!).  And, don’t worry, if you’re not a wine drinker, you can enjoy more than a dozen craft beers, or mixed drinks from the Libation Station.

David Cook headlines Saturday night followed by the Little River Band on Sunday with many familiar musical acts in between.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the gate, and can be purchased at Mercedes-Benz or Centennial Bank locations throughout Central Florida.

Don’t bring your pets, any outside food or drinks or coolers, but do bring cash and lawn chairs or blankets.

Favorite Central Florida Gem?

Our beautiful Central Florida has so much to offer, so much to see and do! We try to cover as much as we can here on our little site, but we’re only two folks with full-time jobs. So we want to hear from you guys–our awesome audience–about some of your favorite gems in Central Florida. Maybe some place we haven’t been or blogged about, something we haven’t yet experienced.

A couple of my personal faves are Harry P. Leu Gardens when the weather’s nice (which we haven’t yet covered) and Wekiva Island (which Kim wrote about several years ago)!

Leu Gardens

Give us some tips by leaving a comment or emailing us, and we’ll try to feature it here on the site! It could be a place to go or see. A person we should know about. An exciting event we just haven’t caught. Some nightlife, or even something touristy. Let us hear!

Ingram Hill at World of Beer

Ingram Hill

I’ve been to World of Beer in Dr. Phillips a few times, and each time I’ve remarked that they manage to bring in some great live music.  So when I was there over the weekend jamming out to local favorite, The Lighter Exchange, I noticed a poster for Ingram Hill taped up behind the stage.  Memphis-bred Ingram Hill has opened for several well-known bands and is now promoting their CD, “Look your Best.”

So, if you’re looking for some solid live music and are a fan of beer, check them out at the World of Beer in Dr. Phillips September 26, or World of Beer in Lake Mary September 27.

Frank & Steins

Admit it, you’ve always wondered what it would taste like if a hot dog and a French Dip got married and had little French Dip Frank babies. No? Just me? Okay, then.

Well, maybe you’re just looking for a place to drink beer and eat hot dogs and since we don’t have a major league baseball team in Orlando, how about checking out one of Orlando’s newest spots, Frank & Steins?

Located at the corner of S. Magnolia & Pine Street at the base of the Plaza Building, Frank & Steins is a great late-night spot (they serve food until 2 a.m.!). They have a brag-worthy selection of beers, many on draft, and it’s just an overall chill atmosphere.

I’ve only been mid-week, so I’m curious what the weekend scene is like.  Have you been?  What did you think?

Yelp’s Fire & Ice Gala

Yelp Orlando has been known to host some pretty kick-ass events around town, but the Yelp Fire & Ice Gala is sure to be the event to beat them all.

A FREE event, hosted by Yelp and open to the public, the Fire & Ice Gala is being held at the fabulous Heaven Event Center and will feature loads of entertainment from DJs to Magicians to Belly Dancers,  drinks from Grand Touring Vodka,  Honest Tea, Vitamin Water and Cocktails Catering, and plenty more!

The Fire & Ice-themed event encourages red and/or white attire, and is a 21 and up event.

And, since you’ll be saving loads of cash on this fun night out, why not bring a cash donation to support one of the most worthy charities in town, United Arts of Central Florida!

For more event details and to RSVP, check out the event page on Yelp!  And, we’ll see you July 7!

American Craft Beer Week

Beer lover? You’re in luck! May 16th kicks off American Craft Beer Week and we know a number of Orlando bars will be celebrating, including local favorite, Will’s Pub.

Tuesday, May 17, will feature “An Evening with Rich Nowack of Brooklyn Brewery.” The event, which runs from 6-7 p.m., will include a special tapping of Brooklyn Blast.

Photos of Above & Beyond at Roxy Nightclub

My good buddy Colleen and I headed over to Roxy Nightclub late last week to check out Above & Beyond, which you know is one of my favorite electronica acts. I opted not to take my camera in because you never call tell what the policies are going to be for local venues, so armed with my phone alone I snapped a couple of pics so sorry the quality’s not any better (only 1/2 of A&B was actually there, by the way):

Roxy Nightclub Entrance

It was an awesome show with some great tunes! My only beef is that the place got really, really crowded as the night went on. But hey…what’re you gonna do?!
