From the Streets
Do I smell like tacos?”
I love, love, love sweets. It’s a terrible habit but I’m constantly feeding into it. So when I saw what’s coming to the Audubon Park area this Summer, my eyes immediately lit-up.

Can’t wait ’til the shop opens for business? Then you can pick-up one of their delicious cupcakes at Pom Pom’s (one of our new favorite Central Florida eateries).
A few years back I discovered Woot, which I thought was a pretty freakin’awesome site for getting neat stuff cheap. Now there are deal sites at every turn, but Groupon has taken this idea and localized it.
Groupon takes discounting to the Web a la warehouse stores by using collective buying power. Each day, they present a Deal of the Day; if enough users sign up, the deal is “on,” meaning you can take advantage of the deal. Basically, it’s a great way to get a deal and it takes the power of the social Web to a whole different level.
A place like Pom Pom’s is exactly the reason klynn and I decided to start this blog. I cannot believe I’ve lived in here for nearly 12 years, and I only just this week discovered this great little Orlando sandwich shop. If you’re not familiar either, I can certainly understand why: it’s lodged away in a tiny strip center on Bumby Avenue (there’s also a location in East Orlando, on University Boulevard), and if you blink you’ll miss it.
Pom Pom’s has an extremely eclectic menu of sandwiches, teas, soups, and salads. One tip: if you’re going with a sandwich, choose something fairly simple. One thing I did notice is on many of the dishes, Pom Pom’s goes a tad overboard with “many flavors”. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but for example I had a pork sandwich, and it had like five really different, strong flavors. I ended-up just pulling the meat out and eating that.
Another really cute thing about this eatery is the artwork (which I’m assuming changes frequently) – it reminds me very much of The Peacock Room.
Pom Pom’s is quaint, and a little pricier than the average sandwich shop, but so worth it. Plus they’re open late, so it’s convenient for a late night snack or even after going out on the weekend. INSIGHT: If you absolutely love the bread your sandwich is served on, you can buy a loaf right there in the store!
Now, the ultimate reason to check-out Pom Pom’s:

…and there’s nothing more to say.

Our little ‘ole blog is featured in this month’s issue of Brink Magazine. We found out we were going to be featured when we attended the Florida Film Festival press event last month. (Look, look! That’s us mentioned on the front cover!)
Thanks, Brink, for the shout-out! We’re truly honored….
It’s hard not to recycle when stores like Super Target in Orlando’s SODO neighborhood make it this easy!

I especially like the option for MP3, Cellphone & Ink Cartridge recycling! Thanks for stepping up, Target!
If this is Frank we’re going to be very concerned:

Now it’s not every day you see a bus getting towed by an 18-Wheeler!

If you like art and are in the market to purchase an upscale home in downtown Orlando (yup, that’s the one on the left!), we’ve got the perfect event for you!
A friend of Pulse’s has their lovely home on the market, located just blocks from Lake Eola. On Wednesday the 14th, they’ll have a combined open house/art showing. If you end-up going let us know what you think about the place…and the art!
