“Out of this World” Exhibit at The Orange County Regional History Center

Out of this World: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television

Exhibit

Let me start by saying The Orange County Regional History Center is an untapped resource. If you’ve never been, you’re really missing out! They have great events & exhibits like the Retro Game Night we experienced in January. Case-in-point the Center’s current exhibit, Out of this World: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television, which runs now through May 16th.

Discover new ways of seeing characters as defined by their costumes in this exhibition featuring more than 40 costumes, props, and models spanning 60 years from “Star Wars,” “Blade Runner,” “Terminator 2,” “Indiana Jones,” “Star Trek,” “Ghostbusters II,” “Batman,” and many more of the most popular films and television shows of all time. Out of this World examines how costume design incorporates color, style, scale, materials, historical traditions, and cultural cues to help performers and audiences engage, in new or accepted ways, with the characters being portrayed.”

Rest assured we’ll be taking lots of photos when we go to the exhibit next week!

Fashion Show

In addition to the exhibit we’ve also been invited to attend the Out of this World Fashion Show this coming Saturday. This event will be a live display of costumes inspired by superheroes and villains, and two of the judges from this season’s “Project Runway” will be judging! If you’re interested in going as well, tickets are $10 for Members, and $20 for Non-Members. But get your tickets quickly because seating is limited. You can get more info here.
