The Junior League of Greater Orlando is presenting a 5K run/walk next Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 8 a.m. Proceeds from the Harvest Hustle 5K will help end childhood hunger and canned food collections will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.

The entry fee is $25 through November 5, and $30 thereafter.

Run along now, and support these great causes!

Now That’s a Big Ball!

Man am I excited about this! The world’s largest rubber band ball (according to Guinness World Records) is paying a visit to Central Florida. It’ll actually be on display at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Orlando Odditorium.

Why am I so excited? Because about six years ago I started my very own rubber band ball. It doesn’t, however, compare to the gargantuan one that will be at Ripley’s.

Believe it or not (no pun intended) I couldn’t seem to find any information about the dates of the display – perhaps it’s going to be a permanent fixture. You can always e-mail Ripley’s at museum@ripleysorlando.com, though, and inquire further.

Ripley’s in Orlando is located:

8201 International Drive
Orlando, Florida 32819

General Information: 407.363.4418

Festival Calle Orange in 10th Year

CalleOrangeEver heard of The Festival Calle Orange? If not you haven’t been paying very close attention to events happening in the Central Florida area.

Over 40 Latin artists are scheduled to perform in downtown Orlando today. This along with lots of [what's sure to be] delicious food and fun games. News organizations report an anticipated 100,000 to attend. Whew, that’s alot of folks!

Admission tickets for the Festival Calle Orange are $10.00 per person. Kids 10 and under get in with no charge. Unfortunately I can’t seem to locate any information about where to actually purchase tickets….

Live or going to be in the downtown Orlando area today? You should expect there to be immense traffic, along with some closures on the main strip, Orange Avenue.

If you’re planning on going but are a little concerned about parking, Amway Arena is offering free parking for the duration of the event. You can also hop on the LYMMO for free.

We’ve Been Quiet

“Pulse” fans, can you ever forgive klynn and I for being so quiet these past few weeks? We’ve both been extremely busy with work and life recently; we hope we haven’t lost you forever.

More content to come soon, so please stick with us!

Tijuana Flats Coming to College Park

Edited:  Signs are up!  Tijuana Flats slated to open March 29!  WooHoo!

Okay, I may be unreasonably excited about this, but Tijuana Flats is one of my favorite restaurant chains, so stumbling upon this sign hoisted in the old SunTrust location (Smith & Edgewater) was like winning the food lottery.
