From the Streets
The idea of Speidi appearing on Larry King disgusts me. I hate them all.”

I took a little road trip this past weekend to visit a friend of mine, and saw the best license plate ever!
(Yes, I actually took these photos while driving about 80 miles-per-hour on the Interstate. That’s how much I love you!)
I know you remember the Pet Shop Boys. Do they bring back memories for you? Well yes…they’re still around, and they’re coming to perform live for Central Florida in early September. Yet again at the fantastic House of Blues. And honestly I’ve always wanted to see them live but’ve never had the opportunity.
Remember this one?
It’s really a classic, and still as good today as it was back in the late ’80s.
Apparently they have a new album they’re promoting – it was released back in late March (hello, where’s the marketing?). I haven’t purchased it yet but here’s a video for a single called “Love Etc.” and it’s really friggin’ cool:
You can also hear other new music by visiting their website.
Interested in seeing the show on September 11th (hey…get crazy, it’s a Friday night)? Tickets go on sale tomorrow through Ticketmaster.
These things are like shelves sometimes.”

If Jessica Biel were my mother I’d breast feed ’til I was 18-years-old!”
(I’m not sure I would even want to know the rest of that conversation.)
As a Central Floridian, I’m sure your summer guests are starting to appear as the heat increases. The real yucky and annoying kind, roaches and ants. They need refuge from the hot weather and find your cool home a summer retreat. But be careful before you go buy that bug spray, they are toxic and release VOC’s that can build up in your home. VOC’s can give you headaches and a plethora of other health related issues. Avoid all that drama and try a more eco-friendly approach.
A couple obvious things to help decrease unwanted pests in your home.
But since I’m sure you’re e a cleanly saint you need some more solutions.
Have any other eco-friendly approaches to pest control? Comment away…
I’m not 100% sure I’m going to participate in PlayDate Orlando next weekend, but I love the concept of something new-and-unique to do here in the Central Florida area. So what exactly is PlayDate Orlando, you’re probably asking? Well, it sounds like a big ball of fun: food, drinks, socializing (i.e., meeting new people), and playing games! I’m talking old school games:
You get the point.

This upcoming “play date” is being held on June 20th, out in the Disney area, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to be precise. It does cost to participate but the price is minimal: $5 prior to 9:00PM and $10 after.
If you need additional information you can always check-out PlayDateOrlando.com, call 321.363.7292 or e-mail info[at]playdateorlando[dot]com.
Oh, by the way, I love their tagline: “You don’t stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing.”
The similarities are striking …

Central Florida’s hometown basketball team have a chance to tie up the series in tomorrow night’s game against the Lakers. Let’s Go Magic!
Here I am, talking about food again. Mexican food, no less (see this post and this post). But I just have to because I’ve discovered–a few months ago, actually–another really great restaurant for Mexican food. It’s called Abuelo’s, there are only two in the state of Florida (the second is located in Lakeland), and yes…it’s in Kissimmee.
So why do I like this Central Florida Mexican restaurant so much? Well firstly, it’s a really festive atmosphere. More than just your average, boring dining room Abuelo’s is like an outside haven with foliage and fountains!

Secondly, ummm…the food! Just look at this plate of fajita yumminess (steak & chicken), joined by rice and beans. And pretty reasonably priced at about $12.
Now, I wouldn’t necessarily say they have the best food ever, and certainly not the most innovative, but in a city where good Mexican food is rare to find, Abuelo’s is worth the trip out to Kissimmee. But you’d be best to check-out the menu for yourself before heading out there.
