Introducing “The Green Scene”

Earth Lovers–and more importantly Central Florida lovers–take note (that should be everyone, by the way)!

ErinRemember that feature we did a while back on Central Florida green blogger “Erin Goes Green“? Well, she’s going to be the newest contributor to our blog. We are adding a new feature and category for all you tree huggin’ Central Floridia lovin’ peeps…and we hope you’ll enjoy it.

Here’s her first post:

We will be featuring eco-minded events, places and people! To kick-it-off, did you know that the Rosen Centre Hotel has been designated a Green Lodging destination? Pretty cool that the Florida Department of Environmental Protection is pushing our local businesses to adopt eco-conscience practices that reduce and reuse our natural resources.  Also, what about being proud to live in the #4 Cleanest City in the USA?  That’s right, The City Beautiful really is just that – keeping it clean and green.  “Sweet!” you say, then stay tuned for more posts of the green variety.

Laugh-worthy

Some things are just too funny not to share. One of my favorite Web sites for fun, quirky gifts is Perpetual Kid. Where else can you find Rubik’s Cube Salt & Pepper Grinders?

Those are awesome, yes, but then I stumbled upon this little gem:

MOLD-0100

And all I could think about was this:

Perpetual Kid does it again. Another classic gift from one of the best sites on the Web. Oh yeh, and while you’re shopping around on their site, why not give them some Twitter love, too: @Perpetual_Kid.

Orlando Attractions Magazine

Familiar with Orlando Attractions Magazine? You probably wouldn’t be since you’re living in Central Florida. But I’m going to tell you that you should be familiar with one of the features of their website: their blog.

We here at “Pulse” don’t often write about the local theme parks since that’s not our focus, but we do like to keep up with the latest happenings–including attraction openings–and important news. So whenever I want to see what’s going on with area tourism I usually look to the Orlando Attractions Magazine blog.

Recently, the site posted a fantastic review of the new Manta attraction at SeaWorld. In addition to updating regularly with similar posts they also blog about fun things like celebrity appearances at theme parks.

There’s a print version of the magazine that’s available four times per year, for the low subscription price of $19.99. If you’re interested in subscribing you can click here.

Fan of Cirque?

Are you a fan of Cirque du Soleil? Are you on Twitter? If you said yes to both of these questions then you’re already in the game to win tickets to Saltimbanco, the oldest major touring show of Cirque du Soleil at the time of its last performance, having run from 1992-2006. If you’ve never been to a Cirque show then you’re definitely missing out on a memorable experience.
