Food + Beer = Yum

If you love food (readers of this blog already know that I do), chances are we’d get along famously. If you love beer, you can pretty much bet we’d be great friends. Combine the two and…well, it’s gauranteed friendship for life!

So when I saw this postcard for the upcoming Central Florida Beer Festival I was all over it.

Will I see you there?

Pet Pulse: Lucas Bright

Here you see the handsomest boy in the world. Although, born under a trailer in the backwoods of Ohio, Lucas grew up to graduate first in his class from the Handsome Boys Modeling School. Now he spends his days inspiring others to find their inner beauty and allowing his Mama to scrape out crud from the corners of his eyes. Because, as you know, handsome boys don’t have eye boogers.

Publix Goes Urban

Publix opened its newest Central Florida location this past weekend in Downtown Orlando. Located in the base of the Paramount on Lake Eola, the store is just what you’d expect of a city grocery store … but definitely a modified version of every other Publix you’ve ever been into.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but thought I’d check it out. The store is conveniently located on Central Blvd., there’s plenty of street parking and I’m told there’s also garage parking available.

The store was bright and airy, but the configuration left me a little disoriented. Carts on the left? Greeting Cards at the entrance? It was all just a little backwards.

I wanted to take pictures, but the store wasn’t crowded enough to distract my peers from giving me the stare-down, so I passed.

If you live or work in Downtown Orlando, be sure to check it out for yourself.

Politics: Central Floridians speak

Klynn’s post on Barack OBama last week generated some conversation among our readers (I love that). Coupled with the recent national party conventions, that has led me to be a little more aware of what’s going on [politically] here in in our own community.

What did I discover? Central Floridians are certainly speaking their minds…at least in my neighborhood:

It’s not just as simple as picking one candidate over the other; there are many intricate layers involved. Regardless of your personal position, the important things to remember are to stay informed (learn as much about your candidate–and his/her opposition–as you can), stand up for what you believe (we are in America, after all), and most importantly VOTE!

From the Streets

Overheard at The Lodge in downtown Orlando, a man to a woman:

get me drunk and touch my head.”

Domestic Bliss!

As a renter, you’re at the mercy of what’s available or offered in your community. For almost 8 years I have lived without access to in-home laundry.

Those days are finally over! To quote Carrie Bradshaw, “Hello, Lover …”

ATTN: There’s been a local Floodle spotting!

It's a Floodle!
