Getting My Biking-Butt in Gear!
If you have been one of our loyal readers for the past few months, you know klynn is a fairly active individual: she bikes, she hikes, she rides little trykes. OK, so the “trykes” statement isn’t true, but she’s much more active than I. Don’t believe me? Just check-out the “Health & Wellness” category and you’ll see what I mean. (Let it be known she has not always been this way!)
So I’m almost afraid to let her know I purchased a bike this past weekend. Yup…I’m gonna get my butt in gear, and start exercising again…and I have no doubt klynn is going to help!
Here she is (below). It’s nothing too fancy but I’m quite proud of it:
American Apparel is Coming to Orlando
I hadn’t seen anything about this, but AA’s Web site confirms that the store is “Coming Soon” to the Prime Outlets in Orlando.
Primarily known for their T-shirts, the clothing store will also be adding more stores to its Florida roster in Boca and Ft. Lauderdale.
For now, you can find your favorite tanks and T’s from their online store.
Will you stay during a hurricane?
We’re in the height of hurricane season. Fortunately the Central Florida area has managed to escape any major hits this year. But with the potential onset of Hurricane Fay (and other potential storms), I started wondering how many local residents would actually stay in their homes if a major hurricane hits, or would they travel out of the way of harm.
What’s your take? Will you stay in Orlando or will you go?
STOPx2
Yes, you’re seeing double. Have you ever seen traffic signs like this before?
(Location: Albertson’s parking lot on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Orange Avenue.)
A momentous occasion
While this certainly isn’t “Central Florida”-related news, and most folks won’t have a personal tie, I would like extend congratulations and a “job-well-done” to “Pulse of Central Florida’s” co-manager, klynn. She recently graduated from the University of Florida, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree.
This is a great accomplishment, and I want to let my longtime friend know how proud I am of her!
Dance Music Mastermind BT Comes to Club Firestone
BT is technically a genius. No, really. He’s clinically a genious; I don’t have definite proof but I know this from someone who’s met him. And you can hear it in his music. Well, most of it anyway (he’s released some stuff in the recent past I haven’t been too fond of.) He scored the music for the Charlize Theron movie “Monster” and has worked remixes for many artists including Madonna.
I was first introduced to Brian Transeau’s (aka, BT) music with a track featuring Tori Amos called “Blue Skies.” Amazing song. From that moment on I was hooked. I guess you could say I’m a huge fan. So anytime I have the opportunity to see BT perform live–be it DJing or playing his own music–I’m there.
BT will actually be appearing tonight (8/16) at downtown Orlando’s Club Firestone. Will you be there? Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door; you can purchase them here.
Not familiar with BT or his music? Then listen to one of my favorite tracks of his:

OrlandoWeekly.com gets facelift
Local Central Florida entertainment entity Orlando Weekly recently redesigned their website, OrlandoWeekly.com And thank goodness they did! Did you ever see their old site? It was difficult to navigate, not at all pretty to look at, uncomplimentary to its sister product (the weekly newspaper), and all-around not a good site.
Check-it-out:
For news & information about the Central Florida area, of course check here at “Pulse” first! But for additional news you can look to OrlandoWeekly.com for:
