What’s wrong with this picture (would you eat here)?

You know those magazines that put two photos side-by-side, and challenge you to find the differences between the two? Well, I don’t have two photos, but I am going to challenge you to find all the “wrong” things with this local business’s pamphlet. And look closely…

…and, would you eat/shop here?

News for the weird: Local woman runs over herself?

News site Local6.com is currently featuring a story about a Central Florida woman who “ran over herself with her own car.” Huh? Yes, that’s what you read.

I’m waiting for further developments on this story, because right now it’s confusing the heck outta me! Can you offer-up any scenarios?

If you’d like to check-out the story for yourself click here.

Pet Pulse: Gertie Kabourek

Gertie Kabourek is a-year-and-a-half old. She was born here in Florida and raised here for her first year, and is currently “visiting” her mother’s parents in Omaha, Nebraska for the summer. She enjoys days running in the back yard, afternoons relaxing on the boat and weekends at the puppy spa.

Enzian kicks it old school in June (kind of)!

Local art house theater Enzian (sponsor of the previously featured “Enjoy a Movie in Central Park!”) has two great treats for moviegoers during the month of June: mid-’90s fave flicks “True Romance” and “Dazed and Confused.”

True Romance:

True Romance“True Romance” might be a little foreign to some, and if it is please don’t let the title fool you. A quaint little love story this is not. It’s a fantastic–and often bloody–adventure movie starring some outstanding actors (early Brad Pitt and a barely recognizable Gary Oldman), and actually one of my all-time favorites.

Here’s a trailer:

This film is showing Friday, June 20th and Saturday, June 21st, both @ 11:30pm.

Dazed and Confused:

Dazed and ConfusedOf course we’re all familiar with “Dazed and Confused.” It’s a coming-of-age movie that resounded with many folks of my generation; it launched several big-name Hollywood careers.

This one-night-engagement is Tuesday, June 24th @ 9:30pm (yes…a school night!).

For additional information on these features, as well as other movies appearing at the Enzian, visit Enzian.org. Why not take a trip down memory lane?

Pulse Goes Japanese…

I’ve seen this Japanese meme floating around on several blogs the past couple of weeks, and since we’re a blog I thought it’d be fun to do, only Pulse of Central Florida-style. So here goes:

According to the calendar below, we want to hear what your favorite thing to do or place to go in Orlando/Central Florida is. For example, I enjoy…well, you figure it out. (HINT: You can grab a refreshing cocktail and look at local art.) So I would say “rikatoji modochi kachi chiriku nokuka mimomime shimomorin.”

Whew…now if that isn’t a mouthful! If I were to tell my friends that’s what I want to do this Friday night, they’d leave me in the dust.

Let’s see if we can figure out what your favorite thing is to do. Try it!

Tiger claws his way to the top!

Following-up to klynn’s post yesterday, Florida resident Tiger Woods takes the top prize in yesterday’s U.S. Open. Who’s happy? Who’s not?

Are we in England?

No…not England. Right here in Central Florida! Betcha don’t know where it is though…. You never know what you might see while you’re “Out and About.”

When Tiger Plays, We All Win

UPDATE: After a sudden death playoff on the seventh hole, Tiger Wins the Open!

I’m no GolfWeek writer, and certainly not a life-long golf fan, but this weekend’s U.S. Open left me wanting more.

The best thing about watching a tournament like this is the hole-to-hole uncertainty of who would take home the win. He hasn’t won it yet, but Tiger Woods returns tomorrow for the playoff round against underdog, Rocco Mediate. There were players out there Friday, yesterday and for sure today who played better than Woods, but it doesn’t seem like any bring as much excitement to the sport as Tiger.

For more fist-pumping action, catch coverage of the U.S. Open playoff round tomorrow, Monday, June 16, 9 a.m. Pacific, Noon, EST.

There are Predators among us!

Predator. According to Dictionary.com this is an organism that lives by preying on other organisms.

While I certainly wasn’t “preyed” upon, I did experience something last night I never really thought I would: indoor (aka, “arena”) football. If you know me you know the humor of the situation. (Hey…I like sports, just not football.)

I met-up with some folks I work with for a “team-building” exercise at the Amway Arena for the Orlando Predators vs. New Orleans Voodoo game. While I certainly had loads of fun, I couldn’t give you the first clue about what was happening.

I snapped some photos during the game. If you’d like to view them just click here.

I even got some fairly decent video as well:

Get your Chi on while eating in Baldwin Park

Chi Pan Asian imageAnyone who is a loyal reader knows I’m always on the hunt for new dining experiences in the Central Florida area. I love to eat. Heck…just check-out the “Food” category and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Enter Chi Pan Asian. I was getting a hair cut a few weeks ago and decided to grab something to eat for lunch as well. That’s when I discovered what I thought was a new food venue. New? Not so much. According to the server the restaurant’s been open nearly a year. This surprised me a bit, but then again…I haven’t done too much investigating around Baldwin Park until recently.

Chi Pan Asian was–for me–and pleasurable dining experience and a welcome change from other area asian-themed restaurants. While you’ll find your typical dishes, Chi Pan Asian offers-up many variations for guests; there were many items on the menu I’ve never seen before, and will certainly provide for several more trips. The atmosphere is very “zen,” too, and quite different from anything I’ve seen in the Central Florida area.

If you want to learn a little more about this restaurant before heading over to the Baldwin Park area, I would recommend visiting their website at http://chiasian.com. Click on the “Lunch” and “Dinner” tabs to see menu listings and even prices!
