Like I mentioned yesterday, I ventured over to East Orlando last night to catch the 7:50pm showing of the “Sex and the City” movie. Yeah, I was definitely looking forward to it. Moreso than anything because one of the friends I was going to the movie with is a “Sex” fanatic, and I knew being with her would be entertaining. And that is was….
I was actually quite surprised at how “not chaotic” the crowds at the Regal Waterford Lakes 20 was. Sure, there were crowds; the theater, actually, was showing double features at various times throughout the evening, and most showings were sold out. Good thing the cineplex could handle it.
Last night, I believe, was the first time I’d seen a movie at Waterford Lakes. Living in downtown Orlando, East Orlando is not a frequent stop in my schedule. But overall I have to say I was pretty impressed with their venue, particularly given the potential crowds over the hype of “Sex and the City”: quick service at the concession stands, swift moving lines at the “ticket stop,” and no lines at the restroom. I also like that the cinemas, like most today, are equipped with online ticket pick-up (i.e., Fandago kiosks).
Overall…great outing at the movies! (Hey…I’m getting old and the “movie experience” isn’t at the top of my list these days!)
If you plan on checking-out the “Sex and the City” movie and live in the Central Florida area, I definitely recommend Regal Waterford Lakes 20 as an option. And if you need to catch-up on “Sex” storylines before heading-out to see the movie, you can see episodes in syndication at various times throughout the week on TBS and CW 18.

For an entire month starting June 6th, Central Floridians can get banged without even having to travel that far. Now wait…get your mind out of the gutter! I’m referring to the returning “The Big Bang” exhibit at Orlando Science Center.
This exhibit promises explosions, demolitions, and bangs…and will likely appeal to fans of television shows like the Discovery Channel’s “MythBusters.”
I’ll definitely be visiting this exhibit and, of course, will publish here about my experience. Check back sometime in the next month for the “bangin’” post! And if you make the jaunt to “The Big Bang” please feel free to share your trip with us.

Yup…I’ll be joining the [undoubtedly] throngs of women making the trek out to their local movie house tonight to see the “Sex and the City” movie. I’m actually meeting-up with two women I used to work with, to catch the flick at the Waterford Lakes Town Center.
It (and I’m not referring to the movie) will certainly be entertaining, and I’ll have my camera with me each-and-every-moment!
Stay tuned for updates….
Florida has more golf courses than any other state in the U.S. — a whopping 1,250.
Today, after a failed attempt at playing the Winter Park Muni, we ended up at one of Central Florida’s oldest courses, Casselberry Golf Club.
Normally, I would find “one of Central Florida’s oldest courses” an endearing description, but today I realized it just meant the course actually looked as though it hadn’t been maintained since its inception in 1947.
Maybe that’s not completely fair, but what is fair is the first 9 holes are pretty rough. The course winds through the surrounding Casselberry neighborhood making it nearly impossible to walk and many of the Tee Boxes were more dirt than grass.
I could just be bitter because I played worse than my usual awful, but given their rates fall in the average range, I think they could step up the greens maintenance just a tad.
Casselberry Golf Club can be found on Triplet Lake Drive, just off of 17-92 in Casselberry.

Lexi is a 3½ pound Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) who thinks she’s a Rotweiller! Unfortunately, she’s fearless and thinks she could take on any dog, no matter the size. She’s supposed to be a “Paris Hilton” dog, but not her.
Lexi loves chasing squirrels, lizards, jumping in the creek, etc. She’s very lovable, gives great kisses, and is the best watchdog ever!
For those of you who missed Brenda, Dylan and the whole Bev Hills crew back in the 90s, (*Gasp*) you’re in luck … “Beverly Hills, 90210″ is coming back!!!
Thanks to the Soap Network, the original “90210″ has been back on my television for several years, but that won’t stop me from watching as the CW Network sets out to bring one of the most successful primetime soaps of the 90s back to television.
Word is much of the original cast is set to join the new show, including Jennie Garth, aka, Kelly Taylor; Tori Spelling, aka, Donna Martin; and Ian Ziering, aka Steve Sanders.
Sign me up for a season of guilty pleasure! The new “90210″ debuts this fall on the CW!
An extreme sportist I am not. In fact, a sportist I am not. Even moreso, I’m not an extremist. However, a shopper I am. Well, the best that my wallet will allow me to be these days. So it happened that the two worlds–shopping and extreme sportist–collided today while I was visiting Orlando’s Florida Mall…in the shape of Adrenalina.
Adrenalina is a self-proclaimed “extreme store” — clothes, merchandise, and accessories for those who enjoy extreme sports like surfing, biking, skating, and more. But what really caught my attention was the flowrider — an actual, functional wave machine in the middle of the retail store. Crazy, huh?!?! This is reason enough to make a trip to the typically busy shopping mall. And if you’re brave enough, you can even try the flowrider yourself…for a mere $20 [for 30 minutes].
Here’s a little sample of what you can find at Adrenalina:
If you want to find out more about this unique store, and their flowrider, I recommend visiting their website or checking-out their MySpace profile at http://www.myspace.com/adrenalinastore.
Adrenalina certainly sets themselves apart from other retail experiences.

Friday, May 16, 2008, is National Bike to Work Day. I know this because I was in my local Starbucks a couple of days ago and while waiting for my Venti Iced Brewed Coffee with Classic, I saw Mayor Buddy Dyer’s face on a flyer …

Mayor Dyer is celebrating Bike to Work Day by riding from his “neighborhood” Starbucks in College Park to City Hall. Starbucks is offering free coffee if you ride your bike and bring your own mug.
I still haven’t figured out if riding with hot coffee is smart (thanks, Dan!) but I’m gonna swing by that very Starbucks tomorrow and attempt to make my way — by bike — from Downtown Orlando to Maitland.
I apologize in advance to my co-workers because, sadly, our building has no shower facilities.
If you’ve lived in the Central Florida area for at least two years then you know downtown Orlando is growing at a rapid pace. Heck, the outskirts of downtown are even expanding at an insane pace (see College Park, SoDo.) While I’m pretty certain we’ll never be a New York City or San Francisco, it’s at least good to see both residential and commercial entities moving downtown; one can’t really survive without the other.
I had the opportunity to check-out one–if not the only–new “rental” property in the center of downtown Orlando — “Aspire.” Now, the name I’m not necessarily fond of. The exterior of the building, however, is magnificent. Certainly one of the most interesting in the downtown area, I think.
Aspire recently opened itself up to public showing, and is looking to have residents occupy the building by June or July. Various floorplans are available — everything from studios to 3BR/2BA. There’s also a penthouse. Units start at $1,040 per month, and includes washer/dryer and one (1) parking spot; additional parking spots cost extra. Here’s an offering of the different floorplans:

I’ll leave my opinions about the apartments–namely the quality–themselves out of this post, and let you make up your mind for yourself. What I will say is that I really like what the property is trying to do, and it has some stunning views of the downtown Orlando and Lake Eola areas. For just a short minute, one might have the feeling we live in a big city
